Pattern: Kindling Hat

tilegroupsagacity
Another hat--easy, breezy knitting in super-bulky yarn. It's barely slouchy, ribbed all over, and all about texture. Sit by the Christmas tree, nibble on some popcorn, turn on a movie, and you'll be done with this little hat before you know it! Perfect if you have some people on your gift list left to knit for, or if you just need some extra protection against the latest snowstorm.

Needle size: US 10, 4 DPNs
Yarn: Dale of Norway Hubro, 2 skeins
Gauge: 5 stitches & 9 rows in lightly stretched rib pattern = 2 inches
(looser gauge is fine if you want a slouchier hat)

-Cast on 63 stitches using the backwards loop method, divide onto three needles, and join in the round.
-Round 1: *Purl 2, knit 1, purl 2, knit 2* nine times.
-Round 2: *Purl 2, slip 1, purl 2, knit 2* nine times.
Repeat Rounds 1 & 2 for 7 inches or until desired length,
ending on 1st row of rib pattern.
Begin decrease rounds:
-Round 1: *P2tog, slip 1, p2tog, knit 2* around.
-Round 2: *Purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit 2* around.
-Round 3: *Purl 1, slip1, purl 1, k2tog* around.
-Round 4: *Purl 1, knit 1* around.

Cut yarn and thread through remaining stitches, pull tight.
♥ Weave in ends and wear with attitude! ♥
